The Project: TAA Agent
The Performance Assurance Board (PAB) agrees an annual scope of work for Technical Assurance which is set during the approval of the Risk Operating Plan (ROP). This is done after the BSC Audit Report is published and covers the ‘Performance Assurance Operating Period’ (01 April – 31 March). ELEXON and C&C Group then put together a schedule so as to ensure the scope of works are completed, including all fieldforce related site visits and reporting obligations.
The procurement-which C&C Group won via a competitive tender-was overseen by a BSC Panel, appointed industry observer and the ELEXON Board.
C&C Group as the Technical Assurance Agent (TAA) carries out and delivers inspections of Metering Systems in the GB market. As the TAA agent, C&C Group has to ensure meters are compliant with all of the functions and responsibilities described in the BSC and any Code subsidiary documents (CSDs).
A key facet of this role, is the C&C Group fieldforce inspection team, where our metering experts attend multiple sites in any given year to measure and ultimately detect and report on inaccurate metering equipment.
C&C also works closely with Elexon and industry participants (MOPs and LDSOs) to ensure the right measures are then put in place to correct any settlement interrelated errors identified.
The quality and consistency of the work performed by our Metering Inspectors and support staff is core to the integrity of the service. Our Senior Metering Inspector, and all of our Metering Inspectors including the TAA Administrators are dedicated to the delivery of this key service line on behalf of the electricity market. Each of the employees involved in the TAA support function has a strong sense of responsibility for delivering a high quality service.
