C&C Group are hugely excited at the prospect of SMART Metering and the SMART Grid and look forward to being a key player in both the implementation programme and the operational phase.
C&C Group have spent the past 18 months fully developing and defining their SMART position and strategy in discussion and collaboration with our customers and valued industry partners including Ofgem, DECC, ERA, ENA, MPAS SMG, Gemserv/MRASCo, ELEXON and the SMART programme teams of all the big and many of the small Suppliers and Network Operators.
C&C Group were invited by Ofgem to formally contribute to the debate on what responsibilities the Data Communications Company (DCC) should have.
As well as the significant investment that we have made and will continue to make to the SMART programme we are delighted to report that we are already generating revenue from the SMART programme as the developers of the Microgeneration Certification Installation system which supports the Feed In Tariffs (FITs) service.
Like everyone else, we are currently studying the Prospectus with great interest and will be formally responding to the questions.
C&C Group’s SMART Metering position and portfolio includes:
We believe strongly that complete and up to date, full GB coverage, Metering Point Administration and Meter Technical Details databases that support the existing ecoes and scoges services should be utilised as the self maintaining reference point for the co-ordinated SMART meter rollout programme.
Data Comms Company (DCC)
Accurate and complete, centralised, on-demand industry data management and services provided by the best possible use of the public Internet have long been core to C&C Group’s contribution. This delivers significant improvements in industry commercial process efficiency and improvements in the customer experience.
We see that the DCC and associated services, including Meter Registration, are a natural evolution from existing systems and services such as the ecoes, SUDS and scoges and the SOAP-SUDS Web Service suite.
C&C Group will be integral to the transition to, and on-going operation of, the DCC consistent with our strategy to become the utility industry data managers.
