The ecoes (electricity central online enquiry service) is used by all Market Participants throughout the GB electricity market, including suppliers, distributors, metering agents, energywatch and Department of Work and Pensions. Information is provided via an internet site www.ecoes.co.uk and currently has over 45,000 users handling in excess of 2,000,000 enquiries per month.

ecoes is supported by C&C Group’s Single Utility Data Source (S.U.D.S.). This contains information relating to every one of the 31 million electricity connections throughout Great Britain. It processes daily updates from every Metering Point Administration Service (MPAS) and Meter Operator (MOp).

This exciting development means that market participants are now changing the way in which they deal with both routine and more complicated issue resolution activities and processes. An example of a recent development is that the service is now used to support Pre-Payment Meter Infrastructure Providers functions seamlessly and automatically, resolving many hundreds of thousands of transactions every month.

Other uses being considered include providing a solution to improve the erroneous transfer (ET) and disputed reads resolution processes.
