CMA - Development and Maintenance

The Central Market Agency Ltd (CMA) was set up in 2008 and is the body that administers the market for water and wastewater retail services in Scotland.

At the hub of the new competitive arrangements, the CMA operates the computer systems that run the Market and keeps a record of supplier activities including recording which supplier is responsible for the services at each connection point. Every month it uses this information to work out the wholesale charges that suppliers must pay to Scottish Water.

In 2011, C&C Group were awarded the contract for the ongoing development and maintenance of the Central Systems (CS) following a fiercely competitive ITT process.

C&C Group work very closely with both the CMA and with the operational service provider to ensure that the Central Systems enjoy maximum uptime and both customers and market participants are billed correctly at the right time.

This system is essential to the successful operation of the competitive water market in Scotland and in many ways is a blueprint for the Data Communications Company (DCC) that is to be commissioned for the Energy Smart Meter programme by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

C&C Group's Central Systems Support Team is staffed with the same high quality technicians that support the electricity registration systems (MPRS and ECOES), electricity DUoS billing systems (Pebble) and the gas registration and billing systems (Silva).
